Box 1, Folder 1, Item 37- Letter to Dick T. Morgan from Ora Morgan (1894 February 20)
Guthrie, Ok.,
February 20, 1894

Dear Husband:
Don't be surprised- I just had some things to say to you concerning the house, and thought it
may be best to not wait until I saw you again.
You know, among other things, we were considering the appearance of the roof- where the
comb of the roof, on the west side, drops so much lower compared with the corresponding
portion the roof, on the East side. Also, we were considering the exterior of the sitting room,
forming a bay window, on the East.
I'm thinking over Walters yesterday. I decided to go over, when Mr. Fielding was home in the
evening and ask him in regard to those two things. Concerning the roof, he said the same
question came up between he and his architect in regard to their roof, here; and he said his
architect would not hear to him having the comb of the house all on the same level- as it would
spoil the looks of the roof; that the roof, all around should incline the same- have the same
inclination-see(?)- and he said he expected it was for the same reason that the comb here (on
the meant) on our house was dropped. I suppose we could have there all incline differently if
we liked there that way of course. But I thought the reason given above would relieve your
mind considerably on the subject. it did mine. So i thought I would write it. Concerning the baywindow he said Eighteen (18) in. would be sufficient to extend the room out, but that twentyfour (24) in. would be better. Now don't wafer from this that 2 am counting on the bay-window

and will be greatly-disappointed to not have it, but I thought it was quite a pointer on that
point. This is all on this subject I believe and I think of nothing else- we are well and getting
along as well as we can without you.
I found that paper, in regard to that case (from Mr. Baker) that you were looking over last
Sunday Evening- in the trunk papers, Monday morning.
I put it away-thought it was no use to send it, you having read it unless you sent for it.
I must quit and send this now, I would like for it to go up by in the morning, anyway- would like
for it to have gone up this afternoon.
Lovingly, "Y.L.H."
Ora H. Morgan
