Box 1, Folder 1, Item 30- Letter to Morgan Family from Bessie Maxwell, (1891 October 20)

Jefferson, Virginia
October 20, 1891

Dear Cousin:
No doubt you wonder at my being married in Washington. But we have so little house room we
could not well entertain all my mother's invites and all of uncle's family could not leave at once.
They have always wanted me to be married there. Willie is still in Florida waiting for the April
departure. He will stop here next week on his way to Washington. He will board at his father's,
1228 14th St. this winter.
Mom is teaching again this winter. This is the third year she has taught the same school It is just
a mile from here. One of us takes her every day and go for her in the evening.
May is still with us. She and Mary King are to be my bridesmaids. May wore light blue China silk
and Mary pink China silk. My dress is cream in lace and ribbon.
Have you given up all hope of coming East?
I shall be glad to hear from you- My love to all
Your cousin,
Bessie Maxwell.
