[preprinted] The Ebbitt House, Cor. 14th and F Streets, N.W. Washington D.C.[/pre-printed]

March 21, 1889

Dear Porter:
Well, my dear boy, I have been away for a long time. I am very sorry that I have had to stay
away so long, and I hope I can be at home very soon. Mama wrote that you had been sick, but
was better. It is too bad that you were sick, but I am glad you got better soon. Did you miss nay
school? I hope not, how has old Charlie got along? Have you taken any rides? I hope Mr. Russell
has taken you. When I get home, it will soon be warm enough to that you and Mama and I can
take lots of nice rides. We have had a great deal of rainy weather here in Washington. It is
snowing to-day, but the snow is melting about as fast as it falls. I have been well since I have
been away. You and mama must try and take good care of your selves until I get home. I want
to get home very soon, but can't tell you just when i will start. Kiss and love dear mama for me.
Be a good boy- help mama all you can. I have been expecting letters from you, and should like
to hear from you.
Your papa,
Dick T. Morgan.
