Box 1, Folder 4, Item 4—Letter to Ora and Porter Morgan from Dick T. Morgan (undated)

Dick T. Morgan,
Lawyer and Land Attorney,
El Reno, Oklahoma.

Dear Ode and Porter:

I arrived home at 2 a.m. this morning, without accident or special incident, except that our train
was about one hour late. Fearing my room would be occupied, I thought it best not to go in so
late at night. Consequently I took a look at the Sullivan hotel, it being nearer our boarding house
than the Keyfoot. I rose this morning at 7 o-clock and went to boarding house for breakfast. Mr.
Fogg was at breakfast. He hardly knew me. Mr. Martins came in next. R. F introduced me to
Mrs. Coffeeman (I guess that’s correct name) who has charge of house in absence of Mrs. B. I
asked her about the room-she said she could fix it for me-and she did so. She had been using it
herself, I think. The room seemed all right. While I was in the room Wright came down and I
heard Geraldine asking about Mrs. Morgan-she is this had I suppose heard us talking before this
came down. She seemed glad to see me, but was much disappointed at your failure to appear. We
had about the usual breakfast-and the dinner was about the same. The people about town “hardly
knew me” and I had to submit to the usual [???].

I have been closely at the office to-day. Business has been light in my absence-the poorest month
we have had-about enough receipts to pay expenses including salaries of G. & H. But I think it
will grow better from this one.
It is quite hot here to-day-a stunning contrast to what we have had in Indiana for past month.
There is not much local news that I have heard. Mrs. Maslin? Has not returned. Neither has Mrs.
B.
The Daily American has started again. I will send your copy occasionally. I do not think of any
thing more to write now.
I enclose your clipping which I saw in a Kansas City paper yesterday morning. Pa had talked to
me abut stopping to see his [[???]]-but I had forgot to talk to you about it. But when I saw this in
K.C. paper, I thought I had better get home, without delay. You can tell Pa about it. When I
arrived here I found the whole thing had “flowed” over-it was a fake-though there were several
hundred who offered [[???]]. and there was quite an excitement here.
Well, I hope you are both well, and that you will enjoy yourselves during the remainder of your
visit. I close. Much love and kisses to both if you, and remember me to all at home.
Papa
