It is now near 4 oclock- but I will go to Y. M. C. A. the pastor of congregation church returns.
July 20, 1902
Dear Ora and Porter:
this is Sunday p. m. 2:40 o'clock. After dinner, according to my usual custom, I went to P. O. for
my mail and as the same was not distracted. I went on up to the office. Have been reading some
paper for awhile and will enjoy myself for a time writing to you. Mama, your card was received
this morning, and I assure you it was greatly appreciated. Glad to hear you had arrived on time at
Kansas City and had made the change successfully, and "had found" Porter. I was so afraid
something would happen so you would miss you each other, and make the trip for both of you
unpleasant. Glad you look neither just "head present book nor yourself." Sure you win luck.

We have had 2 showers of rain since you left and it has been some cooler.

Really, I felt sure, you would be brave, and manage every thing all right. Hope you made trip
through all right, and had no unnecessary or annoying delays. I shall look for ward from you as
soon as you arrive at Covington. Well, as to my doings. I attended the J. P. S. E. S social
Thursday night. Fairly good attendance. Bro. Mousor was about- he had gone up in Kansas to
see about some land he had there. I did not go very early and came away about 10 o'clock. Spend
most of my time talking to Bro. Nowly and Bro. Show.

Ate my refreshments with Jaury Mounor and another boy about his size, who i invited to eat with
me. They had cream and cake. It was very nice. The attendance was fairly good. Mrs. Mouner
Rowley, Show, and others inquired if you had gone. i have been at house other evenings. Bought
another magazine to read. I did not get through with the case I was trying, and could not go to
Lawton Friday. Sent Mr. Fogg. He came back last evening and [[?]] that he got through the case
satisfactory. Each evening after supper, I have taken Princess out or a short drive. My!

She seems to be feeling pretty good. She putts on the bit more and more ever day. She is getting
most too such on the go for my [[?]] Porter, I hope you had a real pleasant visit in Iowa, and that
your summer will be pleasantly and profitably spent with your Grandparents. Surely you are
having a good time, or at least the opportunity to have a good time. And Mama, you must just
enjoy your self, too! I want you to, i am sure. It has seemed very lonesome since you are gone,
but I am looking ahead as to how soon I can get away. I want you both to write often. Give my
love all the folks. With love and kisses in lots of abundance, I say good-by. write soon. Papa
